Late Textbook Adoptions Policy

The beginning of term is always confusing and chaotic. To better serve both students and professors, we are instituting a new custom ordering policy.

Textbook orders received from faculty after September 2nd for new classes as well as new titles for classes already listed will be posted on the text floor with very clear instructions to students to fill out a request form and to prepay their orders. Designated staff will order the books immediately. This new service will expedite the process and should reduce confusion around late orders, especially given the one-to-one contact between our staff and students.

We are excited about introducing this new customized service, and we're proud to upgrade our program to University of Michigan students and professors.

We welcome your feedback regarding this new policy as the semester progresses.

Notes on Ordering

To guarantee a smooth and accurate ordering process, please note the following when filling out our form:

  • Please specify any crosslisting information. If there are multiple crosslistings, feel free to use the notes field. This will ensure that all students will be able to locate their books for the course when they visit the store.
  • The more book information you can provide, the faster we can process your order. If there is a specific edition you would like, please let us know. Please note that we always try to order paperback editions of all requested titles, when available.
  • To prevent any miscommunication and guarantee a speedy ordering process, it is also helpful to provide ISBNs, when you have them available. This is vital when requesting more obscure titles and helps us to make sure that we’re getting the editions you intended.
  • Please note, however, that ISBN numbers are unique to particular editions of books. The ISBN of a hardcover edition of a book will not match the ISBN of its paperback counterpart.
  • Should there be any problems with availability, we will notify you via e-mail as soon as we find out. We regularly communicate with publishers and distributors to get the most up-to-date availability information possible.
